A Lil History

So lets go back to 2011.  I was bitchy, antsy, grumpy.  I was having panic attacks.  I had a lot going on at the day job and was pretty miserable.  I was a former smoker, surrounded by current smokers.  Yes, I was wanting one, or two, or three... or a whole pack.  I didn't know how to deal with it!

We head to PA to shop.  Of course, we hit the mall.  In the mall was a kiosk.  Guess what they sold?  E-Cigs.

So, the smoking hubster said he wanted one.  I don't even know what brand it was.  They were cigarette style batteries with pre-filled cartos that promised a Marlboro Red flavor.  Hubster tried it and said "Hummm... I can do this."  We made our almost 200 buck purchase and off we went.

Hubster handed it to me "Try this".  So I did.  Marlboro it was not, but I noticed the tension draining.  That was it... I was hooked on nicotine!

A few weeks later, they weren't cutting it for him anymore.  After some research, he hit upon V2 cigs.  Bunches of flavors, longer batteries, this had to be a hit!  We both used them for a few weeks.  He weaned himself to less than half a pack of cigarettes a day.  Then it wasn't working for him anymore.  He went back to smoking while I vaped happily away.  Monthly orders for me were $100.00 plus.  I liked this, I really did. 

Lets fast forward to 2012.

"New shop on South Park", says he.  "WTF are you talking about?", says I.  Turns out he was talking about a Vape Shop.  He was totally interested again. 

I tell him "Hubster, you do realize that these are the same guys you turned your nose up at when we walked past them at the Super Flea". 

"Yeah, but that was the Super Flea.  Everything is scummy at the Super Flea".  The man did have a point!

We walked into Vapor Trail and were greeted by Andy and CJ.  They asked us what we were looking for.  I let the hubby do all the talking since this was his show right now.  He was introduced to an Ego style battery and clearos - and 100+ flavors.  HOLY CRAP, 100+ flavors.  I was in vaping heaven.

So the guys got him all set up and asked if there was anything else we needed.  I was jealous, I wanted one now!  Hubster said "you don't smoke."  DUH, I've been using V2's for over a year now, don't you think I might be a little hooked on this?? 

So now I'm all set up and vaping happily.  We frequented the shop, snapping up new flavors and new gadgets.  We were learning.  Quite happy too!  Hubster was smoking but not as much and I noticed he was really enjoying his Ego.

Fast forward by another month.  September 11th he forgot to smoke.  That was it, he was a quitter!  My house is totally smoke free.

Aight... the point to all this? 

We're Buffalo, NY vapers.  We don't sell, we just buy.  Now we'll review.  We'll throw our opinion out there.  We'll educate and inform those opposed to our habit/hobby.  We convert smokers and coach them through it.

We're still pretty new to all this so we're learning as we go.  As we learn, we'll share.

I know there are tons of legalities to all this.  I can't promote this as NRT because it isn't that at all.  I can't say it's healthy and good for you because there are still so many unknows.  But what I can say is that it's defintely a less harmful alternative to smoking that seems to eliminate the need for combustion.
